Mother’s name:         Hanne Wilhelmine Charlotte (Ottensmeier) Henke                       Birth place:  Preussen, Germany, b. April 15, 1826

Christian and Hanne are shown as being married in Evangelisch, Mennighueffen, Westfalen, Preussen, Germany on August 16, 1845.

 

Siblings:         Herman Henke, b. December 1851, Immigrated in 1864 and, according to the 1900 Census, was living with Johanna and August in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  He is noted as being a cigarmaker.           

                       

Johanna Immigrated in 1865, husband August followed later in 1869.

 

According to the 1900 Census, the Kohls family is living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at 864 23rd Street.  Father August is shown as being a Stationary Engineer. 

 

I haven’t been able to connect the dots to our Henke family, but a Heinrich Karl Henke (b. 1837, d. 1903) had a daughter Anna Josaphine Henke.  Anna went on to marry Chester Nimitz, who became a famous admiral in the US Navy.
