In 1906, the Appleton City
Directory notes him as a student living at 779 Lawrence St. Later he became a clerk at A. Galpin’s & Sons in Appleton. Ted moved to Sheboygan, Wisconsin in 1922.
Served in the US Army, 32nd
Red Arrow Division, 107th Supply Train, Sanitary
Squad #1 during WWI. His troopship, SS Tuscania, was torpedoed by German U-boat UB-77 on the
evening of February 5, 1918. Please e-mail me if you
like more details regarding this incident.
I have a couple newspaper articles which include Ted’s firsthand
recounting of the night.
