The 1901 Appleton City Directory shows the widowed Carrie living with Lucile and Leona, who are both students, at 819 Atlantic.  Later Leona became a cashier at the Appleton Theater.

Daughter Leona, b. December 29, 1884, married Bill Nugent, divorced, and then married Henry Pettigrew, who was a widower with 3 children.  His grave may be between Lucile’s and Mary Elizabeth Brooks in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton, Wisconsin, but it does not have a marker.       Burial records show the space only as reserved.  William Nugent, from Kaukauna, Wisconsin, was the son of Alfred A. and Eva A. Nugent.  Alfred Nugent was a noted lawyer in Kaukauna who passed away in 1904.  William Nugent and his brother Earl H. are best known for having established in 1909 the first successful moving picture theater in the Fox River Valley known as The Elite.

In this Dave Kalz photo of Appleton’s College Ave. looking east, the Elite Theater, established in 1909, can be seen in the center.

Curtis and Carrie’s last child, Frederick was born in Pueblo, Colorado as per his birth records.  I’m not clear how this came to be.
