Husband Samuel Norton was born in 1674 in Edgartown, MA. He was a farmer and moved to Newport, Rhode Island. He passed away on August 16, 1760 in Chilmark, MA. He was the son of Isaac and Ruth (Bayes) Norton, also a farmer from the Weymouth, MA area. Issac Norton is the son of Nicholas and Elizabeth Norton from Somerset, England. I’ve read that the Norton family can be traced in Somerset, England going back as far as the 1400’s. Ruth Bayes is the daughter of Thomas and Ann (Baker) Bayes. Thomas being from Norfolk, England, moving to America’s New England area about 1636, probably Massachusetts, marries Ann Baker on December 26, 1639 in Dedham, MA. They were living in Boston in 1645 and moved to Marthas Vineyard before 1658. Thomas was a carpenter and shipper.
