Unfortunately we don’t know
much about Carrie. However, I have found
a marriage record in Outagamie County,
Wisconsin that may be that of a
brother. On May 14, 1883 a Harley J.
Heath married an Anna Wilcox. The
marriage was performed by a William Bennett.
Carrie’s spouse Curtis Briggs’ uncle Lewis
Briggs married an Emma Bennett. Lewis
and Emma’s ceremony was performed by her father P. S. Bennett. Were the Bennetts a
large family? Regardless, none of this
proves any sort of relationship, maybe just a nice close knit community. Harley Heath’s parents on the above mentioned
marriage record are James and Melinda Heath. If Harley is Carrie’s brother, and their ages
are about right for that, then they would be her parents.
Leona Briggs, according to
Social Security records, was born December 20, 1886. She likely married H. J. Pettigrew. There is a space reserved for him within the
same lot at Riverside
Cemetery, but it
apparently went unused. I do not know
what became of Leona
or Mr. Pettigrew. The Social Security
Records continue with her last residence being in Sparta, Wisconsin
and that she passed in January of 1976.
